Roles & Responsibilities

Position Summary:
As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a crucial role in assisting with food preparation and cooking tasks, ensuring that all ingredients are properly handled and cooked according to recipes and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include preparing ingredients, operating kitchen equipment, monitoring food quality, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food items.
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables as needed.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.

2. Cooking Tasks:
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
- Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.

3. Quality Control:
- Monitor food quality while preparing and cooking food items.
- Ensure proper portioning and presentation of food onto serving receptacles.
- Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food items.

4. Kitchen Maintenance:
- Set up and break down workstations as required.
- Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

5. Team Collaboration:
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with kitchen staff and other team members.
- Support the team to reach common goals and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

6. Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all company policies and safety and security procedures.
- Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
- Complete safety training and certifications as required.

7. Physical Requirements:
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time during the work shift.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
