Job Description: Laboratory Technologist - Biobank Operations

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) is seeking applications from UAE Nationals for the position of Laboratory Technologist in the Biobank Operations at the Dubai Academic Health Corporation (DAHC) community. The Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for providing efficient laboratory services to process human samples for long-term storage and spreading awareness of laboratory standard operating procedures and safety standards to trainees.

Responsibilities include:

1. Demonstrate specialized methods and techniques to enable automation of sample processing.
2. Perform biological fluid sample processing, extraction of components, aliquoting, and storing in robotic-assisted storage facilities on a routine basis.
3. Adhere to Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) workflow and maintain high standards of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to meet accreditation quality.
4. Respond to queries related to the laboratory in a professional manner.
5. Support in conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences related to laboratory procedures and safety standards.
6. Conduct literature surveys to adopt newer automation techniques in sample processing.
7. Develop and standardize protocols based on newer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
8. Assist and guide trainees during their training programs, demonstrating tutoring qualities.
9. Provide support in conducting examinations and assessment programs when required.
10. Ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, and instructions, conducting periodic inspections of relevant equipment, and reporting any maintenance requirements.
11. Maintain inventory and ensure proper handling of laboratory equipment, consumables, reagents, and kits, initiating material requests as necessary.
12. Undertake relevant tasks as assigned by the department head.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences.
- Strong communication skills.
- Client orientation.
- Time and priority management.
- Knowledge of Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; Arabic is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with human tissue samples.
