Job Title: Systems Administrator

Job Summary:
As a Systems Administrator, you will serve as a technical expert in a large and complex computing environment. Your role will involve the setup, upgrade, configuration, security, and administration of multiple operating systems and platforms supporting enterprise-wide large-scale computing. You will apply extensive professional experience and training in information technology to manage complex systems, including operating system software, systems programming, performance analysis, database management, security administration, and data storage.

Essential Duties and Technical Skill Requirements:

- Ethics and Compliance:
- Adhere to strict ethical standards.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, regulatory, and organizational policies.

- Technical Support:
- Provide effective and timely support for PCs, servers, and IT equipment.
- Administer IT infrastructure and networks to ensure 99.99% uptime and security.

- System Administration:
- Conduct systems administration and asset management tasks.
- Set up and manage data backup solutions and disaster recovery plans.
- Design, implement, and secure complex LAN/WAN/Web infrastructure.

- Configuration and Maintenance:
- Install, upgrade, and configure servers and workstations.
- Manage linked systems for data security, safety, integrity, and disaster recovery.
- Monitor and tune systems and networks for optimal performance.

- Security Management:
- Implement security procedures for UTM, host/client access, and file/user permissions.
- Monitor security logs for breaches and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Administer security and backup software from vendors like GFI, Symantec, and Veritas.

- Network Administration:
- Administer LAN, WAN, VoIP, VPN, and WiFi networks.
- Configure and administer virtualized environments using VMware, Hyper-V.
- Manage cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.

- Documentation and Training:
- Maintain detailed core infrastructure documentation.
- Develop and implement training and documentation for users.
- Provide support for applications like Windows, MS Office, and system configuration.

- Special Requirements:
- Consent to reside in the same building as the MSE Data Centre.
- Be available on call 24x7 for infrastructure emergencies.
- Provide support on weekends/holidays/after hours as needed.
- Travel to other locations for support/maintenance if required.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in systems administration, focusing on Windows server management and network administration.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as MCSE, MCSA (Microsoft), CCNA, CCNP (Cisco), Network+ (CompTIA), or other industry-recognized credentials.
- Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team when needed.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and industry trends.
