Job Title: Laboratory Technologist (HAAD)

Overview:

As a Laboratory Technologist (HAAD) within our healthcare facility, you will play a pivotal role in supporting diagnostic and therapeutic processes by conducting a variety of laboratory tests and analyses. Your expertise will contribute to the accurate and timely diagnosis of patients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in compliance with HAAD regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Testing and Analysis:

- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including but not limited to hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunology, following established protocols and procedures.

- Operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation effectively and safely, ensuring accuracy and precision in test results.

- Conduct quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing programs to maintain the reliability and validity of laboratory tests.

2. Sample Collection and Handling:

- Collect biological specimens from patients using appropriate techniques and equipment, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and transportation according to established guidelines.

- Verify patient identification and ensure the integrity of specimens to prevent pre-analytical errors and ensure accurate test results.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to infection control protocols and safety regulations at all times.

3. Data Interpretation and Reporting:

- Analyze test results, interpret findings, and prepare accurate reports for review by healthcare providers, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

- Document all laboratory procedures, observations, and results in electronic medical records (EMR) or laboratory information systems (LIS), maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.

- Communicate abnormal or critical results promptly to appropriate healthcare personnel, facilitating timely clinical decision-making and patient management.

4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

- Adhere to regulatory requirements and accreditation standards set forth by the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and other relevant regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and guidelines.

- Participate in internal and external quality assurance activities, such as audits, inspections, and proficiency testing, to monitor and improve the quality of laboratory services.

- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory operations.

5. Professional Development:

- Stay updated on advances in laboratory technology, methodologies, and best practices through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities.

- Pursue continuing education opportunities and maintain professional certifications to enhance competency and proficiency in laboratory practice.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited institution.

- Valid licensure or registration as a Laboratory Technologist with the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

- Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in a healthcare facility regulated by HAAD.

- Proficiency in performing a variety of laboratory tests and analyses, with knowledge of relevant laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment.

- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.
