Job Description

Job Title: Dental Nurse

Job Summary:

The Dental Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to patients undergoing dental treatment. This role involves assisting the dentist during procedures, ensuring the dental clinic operates smoothly, maintaining sterile environments, and providing patient education. The Dental Nurse plays a crucial part in delivering exceptional dental care and ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

- Clinical Assistance:
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including fillings, extractions, and root canals.
- Prepare and mix dental materials, ensuring they are ready for use.
- Hand instruments and materials to the dentist during dental procedures.

- Patient Care:
- Welcome and prepare patients for treatment, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about the procedure.
- Provide patients with post-treatment care instructions.
- Monitor and reassure patients throughout their visit.

- Infection Control:
- Follow and maintain strict infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
- Clean and sterilize dental instruments and equipment after each use.
- Ensure all areas of the dental clinic are clean, tidy, and safe.

- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment notes and medical histories.
- Schedule appointments, handle patient inquiries, and manage dental office correspondence.
- Assist with the management of dental supplies and inventory.

- Radiography:
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays) as prescribed by the dentist.
- Ensure radiographic equipment is used safely and in accordance with regulations.

- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the dental team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Education:
- Diploma or certification in dental nursing.
- Registration with the appropriate dental nursing regulatory body (if applicable).

- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Dental Nurse preferred.
- Experience with dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems is an advantage.

- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using dental equipment and instruments.

Working Conditions:

- Environment:
- Primarily works in a dental clinic environment.
- Exposure to potentially infectious materials and radiation.
- May involve standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.

- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
