Job Summary:
As a Heavy Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods and materials over long distances using heavy-duty trucks. Your role entails adhering to traffic laws, maintaining the vehicle, and ensuring timely delivery of cargo to designated locations.
Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Operation:
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks to transport goods and materials to various destinations.
- Adhere to traffic laws and regulations, ensuring safe driving practices.
- Maneuver trucks through diverse terrains, including highways, urban areas, and construction sites.
2. Cargo Transport:
- Load and unload cargo onto trucks, ensuring proper distribution and securement of goods.
- Verify cargo documentation accuracy and obtain necessary signatures for delivery confirmation.
- Monitor cargo during transportation to prevent damage and ensure integrity upon arrival.
3. Route Planning:
- Plan and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel consumption.
- Utilize navigation devices or maps to determine the most efficient and safe routes.
4. Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections of trucks before and after each trip to ensure roadworthiness.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of trucks, both internally and externally.
5. Communication:
- Maintain communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers to provide delivery updates.
- Follow instructions regarding pick-up and delivery schedules, route changes, and special instructions.
6. Compliance:
- Adhere to all transportation regulations, including hours-of-service and weight limits.
- Keep accurate records of driving activities, including logs, mileage, and fuel consumption.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements for heavy-duty trucks.
- Driving Experience: Demonstrated experience as a heavy truck driver, preferably in long-haul or commercial transportation.
- Clean Driving Record: Safe driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects and performing basic vehicle maintenance.
- Experience: 2-4 Years
