Job Description

Job Title: Faculty – Islamic Culture

Roles & Responsibilities

- Teaching and Instruction:
- Teach Islamic Culture courses using a practical, applied approach that aligns with course and program goals.
- Prepare lectures, tutorials, class exercises, quizzes, and tests to achieve learning outcomes.
- Deliver courses as per the course outline provided and ensure adherence to academic schedules.

- Student Performance and Support:
- Monitor, assess, record, and disseminate students’ performance periodically.
- Counsel and advise students to achieve academic excellence in coordination with the Student Service Department.
- Provide timely feedback and grade students' work.

- Administrative Duties:
- Submit Teaching Portfolio and Course Report before the end of each semester for the Teaching Effectiveness Committee's approval.
- Meet administrative deadlines, including submission of grades, question papers, and course files.
- Attend Pre-Semester Orientation and complete related requirements.

- Coordination and Collaboration:
- Coordinate with Vice Chancellor, Head of General Education, and Dean regarding academic matters and guidance.
- Work with the Director of Academic Support Services for Academic Support matters and guidelines.
- Reschedule classes in case of unforeseen absences and inform the Administration Department and group leader.

- Document Management:
- Maintain an online attendance sheet and counsel students missing classes without valid reasons.
- Keep copies of all student coursework and submit them at the end of the semester.

- Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assist with examination questions and assessments in coordination with the group leader.
- Engage with classes as scheduled and notify the Administration Department in case of emergency absences.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Education:
- Master’s degree in Islamic Studies or a closely related field.

- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in teaching Islamic Culture, studies, and civilization.

- Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledgeable in Islam and Islamic culture, the Quran, Sunna, and concepts of Iman.
- Native Arabic fluency is essential.
- Fluency in oral and written English is essential.
- Ability to provide instruction at various levels within the program areas.
- Experience in developing course curriculum per accreditation and international standards.

- Skills:
- Effective presentation skills, both theoretical and practical.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of computer literacy and ability to integrate technology into teaching.
- Expertise in subject matter with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and maintain a positive attitude towards learning.
- Skills in classroom management, curriculum development, IT proficiency (MS Office), research and publication, and community services.

- Professional Development:
- Evidence of a personal professional development plan with membership in an internationally recognized professional association is preferred.
