Job Description

Job Title: Sea Freight Manager

Position Summary:
The Sea Freight Manager will oversee and manage export and import shipments, ensuring efficient and effective operations. This role involves developing company services, negotiating contracts, and handling documentation for sea freight operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in freight forwarding, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage both operations and customer relations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shipment Management:
- Lead the management of export and import sea freight shipments.
- Oversee door-to-door shipments and ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Check import and export documentation to determine cargo contents and classify goods into appropriate tariff categories.

2. Strategic Development:
- Develop and enhance the company's sea freight services to remain competitive in the market.
- Strategically improve pricing levels and service offerings to strengthen the company’s position as a leading forwarder.

3. Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate and prepare contracts and tenders related to sea freight operations.
- Provide Full Container Load (FCL), Less-than-Container Load (LCL), and sea freight rate quotes to clients.

4. Customer Service:
- Assist customers with requests, complaints, and the tracking and tracing of shipments.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and manage accounts to drive revenue and profitability.

5. Documentation and Compliance:
- Handle all documentation related to shipping, ensuring legal and flexible compliance.
- Check files to include master and house bills of lading with shipper and consignee documents.

6. Logistics Operations:
- Manage logistics operations to meet customer expectations and adhere to financial standards and policies.
- Develop and implement daily operations plans including delivery routes, employee assignments, and promotional strategies.

7. Team Leadership and Risk Management:
- Provide guidance, assistance, and mentorship to junior export operations personnel.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with export operations such as delays, damages, or compliance discrepancies.
- Work within a matrix management environment, coordinating with division-level managers in operations, sales, and finance.

8. Reporting and Continuous Improvement:
- Arrange operation reporting and focus on attainment of key business metrics.
- Direct day-to-day operations with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding and import/export operations, preferably in a senior role.
- Excellent command of English (both written and spoken).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in multitasking, prioritizing, and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
