Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Quotations

Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineer - Quotations is responsible for providing accurate and timely quotations for various departments and stakeholders. This role ensures a commitment to excellence in customer service and internal operations by communicating lead time delivery based on input from Planning and Procurement Areas.

Roles & Responsibilities

Operations
- Quotation Execution:
- Perform should-cost analysis to estimate the fair cost of materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Support source negotiations with data-driven recommendations and cost analysis.
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement and troubleshoot manufacturing problems.
- Develop and implement advanced manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, automation, and digital technologies.
- Standardize the internal quotation process, creating and maintaining accurate product cost models.
- Gather necessary information and pricing data for quotations from department heads and team leads.
- Analyze product/service costs, market conditions, and competitive factors to determine pricing strategies.
- Prepare detailed BOMs and compare supplier quotes to ensure optimal cost and MOQ/ACQ.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain an organized database of internal quotations, pricing models, and historical data.
- Ensure all quotations are documented and archived for reference and audit purposes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with production teams, engineering, suppliers, and other departments to optimize processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Act as a liaison to address discrepancies or special requests related to quotations.
- Handover quotations to manufacturing, explaining pricing, strategy, and supplier selection.
- Quality Control:
- Review quotes systematically before submission to avoid errors.
- Perform handovers to manufacturing, explaining assumptions and criteria to minimize variance.
- Use Quotes Data for Forecasting and Planning:
- Utilize historical data and pricing trends to support forecasting and demand planning.
- Collaborate with the demand planning team to provide insights for accurate inventory management and production planning.
- Training and Development:
- Provide training and guidance to new team members to ensure adherence to best practices and standard procedures.

Communication
- Maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders.
- Clearly communicate expectations, roles, and responsibilities to reports.

Financial
- Ensure financial responsibility, adhering to budget constraints and processing expenses within agreed time frames and policies.

People & Development
- Develop your career through continuous learning and engagement with your line manager to discuss performance, objectives, and opportunities for skill enhancement.

Experience & Education
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in cost estimation and machining or manufacturing routing creation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field with strong relevant work experience.

- Ability to create accurate cost models and develop complex reports from data sources.
- Capable of meeting deadlines and managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Strategic thinker with insight into pricing strategies.
- Proficient in budgeting and cost control methods.
