Job Description

Position: Equipment Maintenance Technician

Purpose:
The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment in the workshop, crane, and RTG sections. This includes troubleshooting and diagnostics of cranes (STS and RTG) as well as heavy and light terminal equipment. The role ensures the proper functioning of container handling equipment through maintenance, breakdown services, and remedial works, particularly in electrical aspects.

Principal Accountabilities:
1. Perform maintenance, breakdown services, and remedial works (electrical) on container handling equipment.
2. Conduct maintenance and repair services for container handling gantry cranes and rubber tyred gantry cranes.
3. Report emergency work promptly to the first technician and/or Foreman.
4. Carry out electrical/electronic maintenance repairs, fault findings, and monitoring.
5. Submit routine and critical inspection and monitoring reports.
6. Ensure work adheres to safety rules and regulations.
7. Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and equipment.
8. Execute duties assigned by the senior crane technician and/or maintenance supervisor.
9. Provide complete and accurate written reports on equipment as required.
10. Perform any other related activities as requested.
11. Observe provisions of labor regulations, relevant HSSE policy & procedures, terminal rules & procedures, and contribute to the continual improvement process.
12. Develop and maintain knowledge in the relevant field continuously.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- High school diploma and additional vocational/technical education, with a preference for a diploma in electrical technology.
- Additional training in electrical/electronic fields in heavy industries.
- Minimum three years of general experience in crane maintenance section in ports, mines, steel, or manufacturing plants.
- Two years of progressively responsible quay crane and RTG maintenance and repair experience, including specific knowledge of electrical/electronic subjects.
- Specific knowledge in the technical aspects of maintenance and repair of quay cranes, rubber tyred gantry cranes, and spreaders is desirable.
- Ability to replace/repair/adjust major electrical/electronic parts such as PLC drive control systems, communication drive systems, etc.
- Familiarity with repairs of cranes/RTG cranes and spreaders is desirable.
- General knowledge to interpret electrical/electronic diagrams, simple engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Familiarity with electrical and electronic components.
- General knowledge and background in technical applications of digital and analog electronics.
- Ability to follow instructions, assess daily priorities, and plan the workday.
- Ability to keep work area organized, neat, and efficiently planned.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and contribute as a team member.
- Pre-intermediate level verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to respond to emergency breakdowns and repairs promptly and complete assignments with quality workmanship and service.
