Job Title: Engineer, Construction Mechanical

Job Purpose

The Engineer, Construction Mechanical is responsible for overseeing the efficient and systematic execution of construction projects in line with engineering best practices, company goals, and objectives. This role involves acting as a point of reference for resolving issues during contractor execution on site, ensuring proper coordination among trades, contractors, and customers, and managing resources effectively to meet project deadlines. The engineer must monitor contractor performance to prevent delays and ensure that installation targets are achieved.

Key Accountabilities

- Project Planning and Execution:
- Plan, manage, and organize site execution to ensure project installation and execution meet time schedules, scope, specifications, and cost constraints.
- Manage on-line and shutdown execution scopes/tendering with the assistance of project coordinators, ensuring all contract requirements are addressed in advance of approved execution dates.

- Risk Management and Contingency Planning:
- Identify and assess risks and critical path elements, developing measurable contingency plans to mitigate potential issues.

- Coordination and Performance Management:
- Work closely with project coordinators to ensure tasks are completed as planned and within the specified timeframes.
- Set performance targets for the team, provide feedback, motivate staff, and participate in the recruitment and selection process.

- Execution Oversight:
- Ensure safe, efficient, and quality execution of all construction activities within the project scope and budget.
- Manage interfaces between the company and various contractors, as well as between the Projects Department and other departments (e.g., workshop, maintenance, asset integrity).

- Standards and Specifications:
- Adhere to valid standards and technical requirements for equipment and services during the execution phase of the project.
- Encourage team members and stakeholders to meet project targets and address challenges effectively.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of direct and relevant experience in construction mechanical engineering.
- Experience in coordinating pipeline construction and installation, with a thorough understanding of pipeline construction procedures.

- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage contractor performance and ensure adherence to project schedules and specifications.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in managing construction activities and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
