Job Title: Engineer, Electrical Projects

Job Purpose

The Engineer, Electrical Projects is responsible for planning, prioritizing, executing, and monitoring Pre-Projects to ensure they are completed efficiently and systematically according to the company's procedures, specifications, and objectives. This role involves analyzing problems, performing root cause analysis and engineering calculations, and generating deliverables to ensure optimal techno-economic solutions for project execution. The engineer coordinates with multiple trades and customers to ensure smooth project execution, provides input for periodic reports, and assists in cost control. All activities must comply with the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment procedures.

Key Accountabilities

- Project Planning and Execution:
- Plan work activities, lead Pre-project teams, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure the execution of assigned project activities meets set objectives and overcomes challenges.
- Conduct engineering work for Pre-Projects, including root cause analysis and engineering calculations using software, in line with codes and standards. Produce engineering deliverables and conduct safety and environmental studies to facilitate smooth project execution.

- Technical Deliverables:
- Ensure Pre-project work delivers optimal technical solutions and meets quality standards within the set schedule and cost, following Project Execution Guidelines and the company's Engineering Specifications and Procedures.

- Standards and Specifications:
- Develop and maintain/update specifications and standards on engineering practices, incorporating lessons learned.
- Stay informed of technological developments in the field to identify and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and cost reduction.

- Support and Training:
- Provide technical support to the Operations Division, ensuring quality and adherence to schedules.
- Support the training of new and/or trainee Engineers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to perform their tasks independently. Share knowledge with fellow Engineers.

- Project Management:
- Organize and lead a project management team for project implementation, planning the sequence of activities based on resource allocation and budget.
- Prepare, communicate, and update gatekeeping project plans.
- Compiling technical requirements for proposals, generating project estimates, and submitting bid documentation in accordance with RFP specifications.

- Risk Management:
- Understand and apply engineering management principles and practices, including safer design and reliable operation of facilities to minimize risks to personnel, assets, and the environment.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of direct and relevant experience in the Fertilizer, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas industry.

- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical engineering codes and standards applicable to oil and gas facilities.
- Familiarity with earthing, cathodic protection, and lightning protection systems, as well as electrical code requirements.
- Experience in inspecting and commissioning electrical installations.

- Project Management Skills:
- Ability to organize and lead a project management team, plan project sequences based on criteria such as budget and resource allocation, and manage project gatekeeping processes.
- Experience in winning bids by compiling technical requirements, generating project estimates, and submitting bid documentation timely.

- Additional Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering management principles and practices, safer design, and reliable facility operation.
- Proficiency in delivering detailed project plans defining scope, schedule, technical specifications, and resources.
