Job Opportunity: Real Time Operations Supervisor

Job Description:

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a dedicated Real Time Operations Supervisor to join our team. Your role will involve supervising and controlling real-time operations on vessels, yards, examination areas, and CFS. The primary goal is to forecast and ensure the smooth delivery of services, achieving high performance with minimal resource allocation. Additionally, you will play a key role in capturing root causes and limitations, contributing to ongoing improvements in operations.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Control real-time assignments for optimal productivity and efficiency in vessel, yard, gate, and examination operations.
2. Support vessel, yard, gate, and examination operations by ensuring correct resource allocation for optimal terminal performance.
3. Distribute workload to real-time planners and controllers, communicating any plan amendments as per operational requirements.
4. Maintain minimal resources allocated to specific operational aspects to reduce handling costs per TEU and achieve high resource utilization.
5. Ensure effective communication between stakeholders, including operational and office staff, and management.
6. Monitor real-time operational data of vessel, yard, gate, and examination to maintain optimal plans and achieve KPIs.
7. Finalize future manpower bookings based on optimal gang utilization and operational requirements.
8. Co-coordinate with the planning department to define strategies based on workload for the next 24 hours.
9. Manage vessel plans to eliminate unproductive moves during loading operations.
10. Analyze and manage the crane program to ensure fast vessel turnaround and reduce heavy hook time.
11. Apply best practices daily, such as dwell cycling, increasing laden truck movements, and tandem operations.
12. Regulate quayside workload based on pick and slack of gate operations.
13. Analyze handling capacity of each yard function and maintain workload for smooth traffic flows.
14. Ensure accurate yard inventory and timely identification of missing containers.
15. Analyze critical parameters such as operations productivity, reasons for delay, vessel turnaround time, and truck turnaround time.
16. Identify planners with training needs and communicate requirements to the planning manager.
17. Propose areas for operational improvement, system automation, and upgrading.
18. Ensure effective inter-departmental communication for vessel and yard operations.
19. Define prime routing and expert decking norms and assist in their implementation.
20. Deal with exceptions in the yard/system and resolve them effectively.
21. Perform periodic scheduled performance reviews with reporting personnel.
22. Implement, monitor, and fully integrate expert decking and prime routing modules.
23. Evaluate each operational process periodically and propose changes to improve safety and efficiency.
24. Implement and monitor yard strategy, fine-tuning to manage surge and slack.
25. Comply with guidelines from the direct manager and ensure implementation.
26. Optimize quay and yard operations to achieve targeted KPIs.
27. Responsible for safety and discipline in the work area.
28. Ensure compliance with Fatal Risk Standards, Safe Work Practices, and HSE policy.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

- Experience in container terminal operations: 5 - 7 years.
- Supervisory role experience: 3 - 4 years.
- Understanding of vessel characteristics/dimensions and factors impacting vessel stability.
- Sound knowledge of container trade operations.
- Work experience in a container terminal operating system.
- Education: Diploma/Graduate, preferably in Marine Studies.
- Excellent computer operating skills.
