Job Description - Contracts Specialist

Job Specification & Key Accountabilities:

Specialist Knowledge:

Provide expert knowledge and guidance in developing, supporting, and executing complex and high-value contracts and tenders for projects.

Document Interpretation:

Interpret and analyze critical tender and contract documents, ensuring accurate and comprehensive responses to clarifications and providing logical, commercially astute recommendations to management.

Tendering and Contracting Activities:

Formulate tendering and contracting activities, including thorough engineering, technical, and commercial reviews of scope of work documents, evaluating and mitigating potential risks to the project.

Technical Bid Review:

Review technical bids for complex and high-value services, leading to the establishment of suitable contracts to facilitate project execution.

Expertise in Tendering Processes:

Provide specialist expertise in tendering and contracting processes, ensuring the incorporation of the latest financial, technical, and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) standards in the documentation.

Documentation Compliance:

Examine scope of work and commercial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory, company, and local standards.

Contract Audit:

Participate in contract audits, review records for accuracy and conformance to standards, and address any audit findings for compliance with established procedures.

Contract Administration:

Steward the EPC Contractor’s activities regarding contract administration, ensuring all parties are familiar with contract terms and conditions, provisions, coordination procedures, objectives, and overall job requirements.

Facilitate Close-Out:

Facilitate close-out activities by ensuring contract obligations are fulfilled, invoices are paid, no outstanding claims exist, and all deliverables are received and approved.

Timely Correspondence Close-Out:

Ensure the timely close-out of all claims-oriented correspondence to avoid potential claims.

Skills:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering science, Management, or a relevant discipline.

Knowledge and/or Experience:

10-15 years of experience in a contracts management environment, preferably in Major Projects within the oil and gas industry.

Exposure to contract law, negotiations, contractor management, insurance, legal, and industry practices.

Experience in onshore and brownfield projects would be preferred.
