Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Director of Events Planning

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Events Planning supports the execution of property events, ensuring a smooth transition from sales to operations and back to sales. This role focuses on meeting brand targets, enhancing employee satisfaction, growing event revenues, and optimizing the department's financial performance. The position involves developing and implementing strategies to deliver services that meet or exceed customer expectations and provide a return on investment.

Key Responsibilities

- Event Management Operations:
- Assist in managing event operations, including banquets, event services, and event technology.
- Review scheduled events to identify and troubleshoot potential challenges or conflicts.
- Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards in collaboration with the culinary team.
- Oversee event planning team members and ensure meeting spaces and equipment are maintained.
- Keep inventory levels of furniture and equipment in line with corporate guidelines.

- Budget and Profitability:
- Research and analyze competitors' products, pricing, and services.
- Introduce innovative ideas to the leadership team to keep the property competitive.
- Encourage risk-taking to generate incremental revenue and enhance guest service.
- Develop relationships with outside vendors, establishing prices and service agreements to enhance event experiences and increase revenue opportunities.

- Customer Service:
- Create an atmosphere in event management areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
- Consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.

Candidate Profile

- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or a related field; OR
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with 1 year of experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or a related field.

- Skills and Attributes:
- Strong understanding of event management operations and budgeting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Proven track record of enhancing guest service and generating revenue.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with vendors and team members.
