Job Description

Job Title: Cook III

Position Summary

The Cook III is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of foods to meet quality and presentation standards. This role involves managing ingredients, operating kitchen equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen. The Cook III must ensure that all food preparation is executed according to recipes and quality standards, and contribute to a positive kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Food Preparation:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking by portioning, chopping, and storing food.
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Prepare and cook food while adhering to quality and presentation standards.

- Cooking and Operation:
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
- Prepare cold foods as needed.
- Test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality during preparation.
- Serve food in proper portions onto appropriate receptacles.

- Kitchen Maintenance:
- Set up and break down workstations.
- Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
- Check and ensure correct temperatures of appliances and food.

- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all company and safety policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager.
- Complete safety training and certifications as required.

- Team and Communication:
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members.
- Support the team in reaching common goals and address concerns appropriately.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with others.

- Physical Requirements:
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or entire shifts.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.

Preferred Qualifications

- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience in a kitchen environment.
- Supervisory Experience: None required.
- License or Certification: None required.
