Job Description

Job Title: Commis III

Position Summary:

The Commis III is responsible for assisting in the preparation of food and maintaining high standards in food quality and presentation. This role involves various kitchen tasks, including ingredient preparation, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. The Commis III works under the direction of more senior kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and the delivery of high-quality dishes.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Food Preparation:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.

- Cooking and Quality Control:
- Prepare and cook food following recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards.
- Prepare cold foods as required.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
- Test foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality while preparing.

- Kitchen Maintenance:
- Set up and break down work stations.
- Serve food in proper portions and use appropriate receptacles.
- Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
- Check and ensure the correct temperature of appliances and food.

- Health and Safety:
- Follow all company and safety policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager.
- Complete safety training and certifications.

- Professionalism:
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and respond appropriately to employee concerns.

- Physical Requirements:
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or entire shifts.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

- Additional Duties:
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

- Related Work Experience:
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a kitchen environment.

- Supervisory Experience:
- No supervisory experience required.

- License or Certification:
- None required.
